Recently, Joseph Lubin, Ethereum’s co-founder has named Berlin as “the most important city in the blockchain cosmos.” This was based on a Cointelegraph auf Deutsch report.
Lubin noted the German city has the infrastructure, full of talented people, particularly the good programmers.
He stressed if Berlin is serious to become a blockchain hub, its government has to set-up more programs for the promotion of blockchain.
The Ethereum executive said the blockchain is still in its early stages. Currently, he is focused on app development for the Ethereum blockchain while working closely with his company, ConsenSys.
He noted the appearance of many bubbles bursting, adding more is yet to come in blockchain and cryptocurrency. At $30, he cited, Bitcoin was a bubble, even at $200 and $20,000.
He commented on cryptocurrencies, saying the hype with Bitcoin is not so good but this will generate more money in the market while pushing the technology forward.
Lubin’s interest is on the creation of the next stage of the Internet, now referred to as Web 3.0. He criticized the “old web” brought too many mistakes. Many people have no control over their data, where firms can capitalize on user data, without a fast system to settle for cross-border payments.
He noted we need to drive away the silos or those companies that simply collect info to make money. People should have them under control.
He shared in an interview that when Vitalik Buterin described the Ethereum platforms, it was depicted as elegant with “the most powerful description of a blockchain platform up to that point.”
Lubin emphasized Ethereum has enabled billions of software engineers to stay calm about the protocol layer and continue to create tools similar to their previous platforms whenever building web and mobile applications, and identifying the issues, and finding solutions.
